A magnificent micro mosaic pin and pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This spectacular piece is quite substantial in size and equally impressive in design. Featured at the center is an intricately detailed image created entirely with micro mosaic tiles. The scenic image depicts the?Vatican, specifically with a view of St. Peter's?Square that includes the Basilica and Obelisk. Each tiny?tile?has been meticulously cut and individually hand set, which brings the image to life in incredible detail.?The delicate mosaic handiwork?is so fine that it resembles a painting, complete with pillared and domed Roman architecture, glowing lamps, and bursting fountains in the square.?The micro mosaic image is framed by a striking double border comprised of malachite and black onyx stone. Encasing the centerpiece is a gold bezel frame made of 18kt yellow gold, which is adorned with a decorative Etruscan wirework motif. ?On the back of the piece is a secure pin clasp and a gold hook bail, making it possible to wear as either a pin or pendant.?An outstanding example of antique micro mosaic jewelry, this museum quality piece?would make an exceptional?addition to any collection!

Condition: The overall condition of the piece?is excellent. The pin clasp and hook bail are secure and in good working condition.
